New Jersey Drug Court Name Change: Recovery Court

For over 20 years the New Jersey Courts have operated the “New Jersey Statewide Drug Court” to provide assistance and support for individuals suffering from Substance Use Disorder (SUD) (formerly referred to generally as “Addiction”). The history of Drug Court in New Jersey dates back to 1996 with a pilot program that started in two (2) counties.  In 2001, the drug court program was signed into law and has been a part of New Jersey Courts ever since.

In a notice dated December 28, 2021, the Administrative Office of the Courts announced:

Our philosophy in drug court has always been to help change lives through a road to recovery. To reflect that goal most clearly, effective January 1, 2022, “New Jersey Statewide Drug Court” will now be called “New Jersey Statewide Recovery Court.”

The program will now be referred to as Recovery Court, but will continue to follow the National Drug Court Best Practice Guidelines. If you or a loved one is charged with a crime and is suffering from SUD, the team at Rosenberg Perry & Associates, LLC can help.  We have a host of resources to assist with treatment and legal options.  Please contact us online or by calling our office at (609) 216-7400.
